If you were a child of the 80′s and 90′s growing up in Australia, chances are you too grew up watching Noah Taylor on the screens of your youth. And while you may recall Taylor portraying teenage angst in The Year My Voice Broke and The Nostradamus Kid, more recently you would have come across him in the last 2 seasons of Game of Thrones – if, that is, you are a GoT junkie like us.

While Taylor has been busy behind the scenes making music and painting since his teens, he has only just recently started exhibiting his work in the last five years. Currently living on the south coast of England, Taylor draws on his memory of an isolated Australian landscape to place the haunted looking portraits that his mind conjures up. Is it just us or does that last portrait featured below look like Anna Wintour?

Citing religious art and comic books as his two main sources of inspiration and influence, Taylor explains that he likes to keep his works untitled in order to allow the viewer to create their own narrative of what each work represents.

Artist Noah Taylor’s current exhibition ‘Alone Together’ is showing at the Olsen Irwin Works on Paper, Small Paintings and Sculpture Gallery on Queen Street Woollahra from May 11 to May 30, 2015.
